Guide to catching Pets!

Below is the eAthena script for taming a pet

pet_catch_rate = (pet_db.capture + (sd->status.base_level - md->level)*30 + sd->battle_status.luk*20)*(200 - get_percentage(md->status.hp, md->status.max_hp))/100

In English, it simply means:
Success Chance in % = (Base Capture Chance + (Player Base Level - Monster Level)*30 + Luk*20)*(2 - [Monster HP rate])/100

whereby Monster HP Rate is 1 if the monster has full HP ,0.5 on half HP,etc...


Recommendation
1. Use a high level character

2. Have lots of LUK - I normally use my Turn Undead Priest with Gloria

3. Weaken the target monster (Pokemon style)

4. Pray
